LingoCompare is a browser extension that translates selected text into two target languages for side-by-side comparison.
Account data
When you create an account via Clerk, we receive basic profile information such as your email address and display name. This is used for authentication, account management, and associating your translation usage with your signed-in quota. We do not sell your personal information.
Translation text
When you select text for translation, that text is sent to our servers for processing. We use it solely to return translations and enforce usage limits. Translation requests are not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Daily quotas
Anonymous users receive a limited number of free translations per UTC day. Signed-in users receive a higher daily limit tied to their account. We store usage counters to enforce these limits fairly. Quota resets at midnight UTC each day.
Extension vs server data
The Chrome extension stores local settings on your device — such as your chosen target languages, display preferences, and a guest identifier for anonymous quota tracking. These settings stay on your device unless you sign in and sync your session. Only the text you select for translation is sent to our servers.
Future paid subscriptions
Paid Pro plans will be processed through Stripe when available. Billing details, payment status, and subscription tier will be stored to manage your plan. We will update this policy before any paid billing goes live.
